Truck driver (HGV)
HGV drivers are sought across Germany. The job pays well but carries the highest additional requirements: a CE licence, initial qualification and usually recognition of your licence.
Typical duties
- 01Drive regional or long-distance routes with articulated or drawbar trucks
- 02Take over and secure loads, keep freight documentation
- 03Observe driving and rest times and evidence them via the tachograph
- 04Inspect the vehicle, report defects, perform basic maintenance
Requirements
- Category C/CE licence, valid and recognisable in Germany
- Accelerated initial qualification, i.e. code 95
- Driver card for the digital tachograph
- German language skills are effectively always required here
The statutory minimum wage in Germany is €13,90 gross per hour (2026). Many sectors apply higher collective or sector minimum wages.
